So there's little cafe called Kaju across the street from my son's school in the Inner Richmond. Drive by it every single day but have never been in. The red and white awning and tinted windows make this place look quite unremarkable from the outside.
In need of a quick sandwich last Saturday, I FINALLY darted in, more in search of sustenance than flavor. Dude, these guys need to fix that awning! Inside is a sleek and comfortable cafe with a compact, enticing and CHEAP menu that I will need to work my way through. Had the toasted salami sandwich, whcih was quite tasty, though could use a few more pieces of meat. The selection of $5 egg sammies looks absolutely awesome!
Ok, but where things get life changing is with the chocolate chip cookie. Just by looking at it, you know that the thing is going to be damn good. Given that I may have eaten 10,000 cookies in my life at this point, I'm hesitant to name it the best ever...but it's cerainly a contender!
This place is a nice little gem in the Inner Richmond. Go check it out!
Daughter's Delight, smoked salmon with roe and cream cheese on a NYC poppy seed bagel. So perfect.
Lardo, smoked duck breast and foie gras charcuterie plate was very tasty. Will return to try the other options. Bone marrow small plate was also excellent. Everything was well balanced.
Burrata, luganega pizza, insalata nostrana, and the tagliata pasta. Everything was absolutely amazing including desserts (dolce) and wine pairings!
This was an amazing dessert served at a dinner in honor of MFK Fisher, and an author who just wrote a book about her. The choux shell is in the shape of a bicycle wheel, and was created in honor of a bicycle race in 1891 from Paris to Brest. It was served with fruit macerated in seven liqueurs. Amazing.
